At twilight, as I walked along the old cobblestone streets, I found myself stopping in front of a certain cafe. “Maid Cafe Rouge”—it was a place that had recently earned a reputation in town. A sign leaned against the entrance: *Today Only: New Craft Beer Available.*
“I’ll just stop by for a moment,” I told myself as I pushed the door open.
Stepping inside, I was greeted by the smiles of staff dressed in maid uniforms. I took a seat at the counter and waited to order. Soon, a maid approached and offered me a menu with a gentle smile.
“Welcome home, Master. Today, I highly recommend our new beer. Would you like to try it?”
Intrigued by her suggestion, I nodded. “Sure, I’ll have that.”
“Certainly, Master. Please wait just a moment.”
The maid walked away with a light step and returned shortly after with a glass of amber liquid topped with a creamy head. The beer had a rich, alluring aroma.
“Here is our new beer. Please, enjoy.”
Reassured by her smile, I took a sip. In that instant, a refreshing flavor spread through my mouth, and a pleasant intoxication began to wrap around my entire body.
After only a few gulps, my vision suddenly blurred. I felt my consciousness drifting away. My limbs grew heavy, and I sank into the chair as if being dragged down into a deep abyss.
“A-Are you alright?”
The maid’s voice sounded distant, but I couldn’t even manage a reply. Just before my consciousness cut out completely, I thought I saw her lips curl into a smirk.

When I woke up, I was lying on a bed in a room I didn’t recognize. My head was foggy, and it took time just to sit up. I stood before a mirror, and what I saw left me paralyzed with horror.
The reflection staring back was not mine. It was the maid from the cafe.
“This… what is this…?”
Even the voice was hers. Falling into a panic, I rushed out of the room to find my original self. But no matter where I looked, I was gone. Instead, I found a letter tucked away in the corner of the room.
*『To my Master: I have taken your body. Please, forgive me. Your life is mine from this day forward. — From your Maid』*
