The Relic in the Mirror: A Fragile Nostalgia
Late afternoon. Takuya, a high school boy, returned home to find a bizarre scene in the living room. His mother was strike a pose, seemingly in high spirits. He squinted to get a better look and gasped. His mother was dressed in a classic sailor-style school uniform, preening before the mirror.
“M-Mom?! What are you doing?”
“Eek! Takuya?! No, it’s not what it looks like! I just… I wanted to remember what it felt like back then…” she stammered, her face flushing crimson as she frantically smoothed the pleats of the skirt.
Takuya couldn’t help but laugh. “It actually suits you, Mom. It’s like you’ve traveled back in time.”
“Don’t tease me!” she laughed, embarrassed. But as she rushed toward him, she lost her balance, slipped, and collided with him. After a momentary whirl of vertigo, both lost consciousness.
The Somatic Reversal: A Perverse Curiosity
When Takuya opened his eyes, the world had shifted. He raised his hands, only to see his mother’s slender fingers. He lunged for the mirror. Staring back was his mother, still dressed in the sailor uniform.
“This can’t be happening…”
Next to him, another voice spoke—his own voice. “Takuya… did we… did we switch?” His mother, now inhabiting his teenage male frame, looked down at her new body with a mix of anxiety and wonder.
