Under the veil of a dark night, a man named Murata silently pried open a window. Driven to the brink by debt, he had finally crossed the line into burglary. From the outside, the house looked affluent and the lock seemed amateurish—an easy target.
He slipped inside with practiced ease, but as he scanned the room for valuables, a silhouette caught his eye. He spun around, only to see a woman standing there in a high school sailor uniform.
“What the…?” Murata froze.
A schoolgirl in the dead of night? No—as his eyes adjusted, he noticed the dissonance. The face wasn’t that of a young girl; it was a middle-aged woman, her expression etched with weariness.
“Who the hell are you!?” Murata barked.
“I should ask you the same! What are you doing here!?” she shrieked back.
Confusion reigned. Is she just wearing her daughter’s clothes? Murata wondered. But as he stepped forward to seize her, he tripped over a bag on the floor. His head slammed against the ground, and the world went black.
The Somatic Shifting: A Mid-Life Metamorphosis
When Murata regained consciousness, the world felt fundamentally wrong. He looked at his hands—they were small, the fingers delicate and unfamiliar. He looked down to see a pair of rounded breasts and the pleated fabric of a sailor skirt.
“What is this?! I’m… I’m a woman!?”
Panic-stricken, he scrambled to a mirror. Reflected back was the weary, middle-aged woman from moments ago. Before he could process the horror, the front door opened. The real resident—a teenage girl—had returned.
“Who are you?! Why are you wearing my clothes?!”
“Wait, I can explain—” Murata started, but the girl was already dialing the police. It was then he realized the truth: that “middle-aged woman” had been an intruder just like him. She had vanished, leaving him to take the fall in her skin.
He managed to bolt from the house just as the sirens neared. Though he escaped, the body remained. He was trapped in the form of a matronly woman in a schoolgirl’s uniform.
